Hey there.

If you’re in the same position I was (admittedly only a few weeks ago), you’ve probably heard or come across Product Management, developed a liking for it, and are now searching for a quick way to jump in and start learning.

This is the guide for you.

No need to fluff up the post any longer, however I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I am a beginner to the professional aspects of Product Management, and have only recommended these resources based on the advice and tips from people who had sufficient credibility. This should be enough to jump in:

1 Book to Read:

‘Insipired’ by Marty Cagan.

This was recommended to me countless times by both junior PMs and senior PMs, get a physical copy and starting going through it as your first dive in.

2 Courses to Consider:

While I haven’t completed either of these courses, and appreciate spending ~£15/$20 can be a barrier to entry, these have anecdotally been said to be worth the money. Make sure to read Inspired before buying any courses!

3 People to Follow:

Jump on LinkedIn/Twitter/any relevant social media, start by following these 3 and seeing who they interact with, then follow further PMs from there:

  1. Marty Cagan
  2. Shreyas Doshi
  3. Ken Norton

TL:DR?

Find a way to get access to ‘Inspired’ by Marty Cagan, whether this is a physical copy, ebook, audiobook, summary notes, whatever. Follow Marty Cagan and Shreyas Doshi on social media, then consider Udemy if needed.
